Almaty Restaurant Among the Most Beautiful Restaurants in the World by Prix Versailles

This year, Prix Versailles, a prestigious international architecture award supported by UNESCO, has selected 16 of the most beautiful restaurants in the world, and among them is the AUYL restaurant, located in Kazakhstan, in the picturesque Medeu tract, on the mountainside. This restaurant was included in the list of the best by the authoritative Forbes magazine, which confirms its uniqueness and appeal to both locals and international guests.

The AUYL restaurant has become a striking example of the fusion of historical heritage and modern architecture. It is located in a Soviet modernist building that was built in Aktau and then transported to the mountains to create a unique space reflecting the atmosphere of Central Asian nomadic culture. The design of the restaurant is inspired by the traditions of nomads, who are known to use natural colors and materials. The interior of AUYL does not have bright and saturated colors - beige and brown shades prevail, which gives the place warmth and coziness. It is important to note that the project was carried out without the use of artificial colors, which reflects the spirit and philosophy of nomads who did not have access to bright colors.

Not only the interior of AUYL attracts attention. The concept of the restaurant is based on neo-nomadic cuisine, which once again emphasizes the connection with the traditions and culture of the region. Particular attention is paid to the open kitchen, which becomes an integral part of the whole process, creating a unique atmosphere and involving guests in a gastronomic journey.

Among the other restaurants that made it to the prestigious list are such global brands as Ariana’s Persian Kitchen in Dubai, Reine & La Rue in Melbourne, Tuju in Sao Paulo, Cristal Room by Anne-Sophie Pic and Tomacado in Hong Kong, Virador Beach Club on the Papagayo Peninsula, Blanc and Ladurée in Paris. The list also includes Beefbar in Milan, The Oreum in Goyang (South Korea), Madi Hiyaa in the Maldives, as well as Harudot and Nusara in Thailand and ILIS in New York. Each of these establishments was selected for its exceptional design and atmosphere, which meets the highest world standards. Interestingly, of all the restaurants presented, three will compete for the title of Prix Versailles winners in the Interior and Exterior nominations.

The inclusion of the AUYL restaurant in this prestigious list confirms that Kazakhstan not only has a rich cultural and historical tradition, but is also capable of creating unique spaces that can compete on a global level.
